The AOC CQ27G2 is an entry-level display that was announced to the market in mid-2020. It has a high native contrast ratio and a 144Hz refresh ratio that is good enough for tear-free gaming – attributes that are quite common with some of the best gaming monitors around. Its build quality is pretty good, and its ergonomics are superb for easy adjustments. It may not top our list of the best computer monitors, but it offers decent reflection handling, and its text clarity is pretty good. Color is also pretty accurate out of the box, and like the AOC CU34G2X, it has a 1440p screen resolution.

Critics were impressed with the AOC CQ27G2’s 144Hz refresh rate, high contrast ratio, and easy adjustability. Unfortunately, the monitor’s poor viewing angles, low peak brightness, and lack of support for HDR content did little to sustain their enthusiasm.

Consensus
our Verdict
Top testers hailed the AOC CQ27G2 as a great option, especially for users who want to set it up in a dark room because of its high contrast ratio. Reviewers from Rtings also liked how easy it was to adjust, courtesy of its impressive ergonomics. They were also satisfied with its reflection handling and felt it had good color accuracy before making any adjustments. Its 144Hz refresh rate had experts from Tom’s Hardware convinced that it was good enough for casual gaming, and although it was not as high as the 165Hz max refresh rate of the ASUS TUF VG27VQ, they were okay with it since they did not come across any instances of screen tearing during their tests.
However, the CQ27G2’s poor viewing angles, lackluster peak brightness, and lack of support for HDR content may drive away some buyers.
ReasonS to Buy
- Great ergonomics
- High contrast ratio
- Decent reflection handling
- Good color accuracy
Reason to Avoid
- Poor viewing angles
- No support for HDR
- Low peak brightness
