Overall, the Hisense U6H is an excellent pick for buyers looking for the most bang for their buck, as long as they don’t mind compromising motion blur for perfect contrast and acceptable brightness levels. It’s a great value for movie/TV watching and casual gaming.

Product Snapshot

Overview

The Hisense U6H is an entry-level 4K TV launched in mid-2022. It promises to deliver a color-rich viewing experience thanks to Quantum Dot technology, which affords it a wide color gamut.

The U6H has a 600-nit brightness rating that is good enough to fight glare in sun-lit rooms, but its viewing angles are narrow. The best TVs and top-rated 4K TVs offer much wider angles.

Reflection handling is excellent, and with a native contrast ratio of 7,585:1, it rivals a lot of alternatives in its category. The U6H has about 36 local dimming zones, but this is relatively low compared to the 90 present on the Hisense U7G, which we’ve looked at in our Hisense U7G TV review.

It runs on the Google TV Smart OS, which differs from the Roku TV interface adopted by the Hisense U6GR (check it out in our Hisense U6GR TV review).

Consensus

our Verdict

The Hisense U6H TV is an entry-level 4K display with 600 nits peak brightness, ensuring visibility in well-lit rooms and a 7,581 contrast ratio for good detail and deep blacks in dark scenes.

It handles reflections well, but a tested 13.8ms response time causes motion blur in fast-action scenes, which may disappoint gamers. The 60Hz refresh rate and HDMI 2.0 bandwidth aren’t for competitive gamers, although FreeSync support and low input lag are adequate for casual gamers.

Compatible with Alexa and Google Assistant, it operates on the user-friendly Google TV Smart OS. However, narrow viewing angles aren’t ideal for larger audiences. Finally, the HDR TV offers 4 HDMI and 2 USB ports for good connectivity, but the sound quality distorts at higher volumes.

ReasonS to Buy

  • Bright enough to handle glare in well-lit rooms
  • Stunning QLED picture quality
  • Sharp native contrast levels for dark blacks and bright whites
  • Excellent reflection handling
  • Easy and quick setup process
  • Excellent for PC gaming with G-Sync and Freesync support
  • Sufficient HDMI ports for multiple devices
  • User-friendly interface and responsive remote
  • Great value for money
  • Compatibility with both Google Assistant and Alexa

Reason to Avoid

  • Slow response time, causing motion blur in fast action scenes
  • Limited HDMI 2.1 support, contrary to some claims
  • Mediocre native sound quality
  • Challenging setup for Alexa control
  • Occasional WiFi connectivity issues

One of the most glaring differences between the Hisense U6H and the Hisense U7G is that the U7G is more tailored towards gamers, as it comes with HDMI 2.1 ports (which the latest gaming consoles use) and support for variable refresh rates to prevent screen tearing. The U7G also has a lot less blooming and a total of 90 dimming zones. This is more than the 32 that are present on the U7G. On the other hand, the U6H offers much better color accuracy out of the box, needing very little tweaking.

In terms of brightness, the Hisense U6H TV is outdone by the Hisense U7H since the U6H has a peak brightness rating of 600 nits, while the U7H has a higher brightness rating of 1000 nits. Also, while they both have a wide color gamut, the Hisense U7H has a higher color accuracy both before and after calibration, making it the better choice for those who prefer a rich color display without much configuration.

The Hisense U6H doesn’t match up to the TCL 5 Series Roku TV’s contrast ratio, making the latter the better alternative for use in a dark setting. The Hisense U6H has a native contrast ratio of 7,585 compared to the TCL’s 9.591. However, the U6H counters with its better reflection handling, maintaining good visibility even when placed in a bright room. However, these two TVs don’t have the best viewing angles, which matters if the TV is to be viewed by a large audience. The LG Flex Oled’s curved display offers better viewing angles, and you can learn more about it in our LG Flex OLED TV review.
