Product Snapshot

Overview

The EPOS H3PRO Hybrid is a premium gaming headset that was released in 2021. The headphones sport an over-ear design with a microphone that can be detached or folded up against the earcup. Like other highly-rated gaming headsets, the H3PRO Hybrid creates virtual 7.1-channel surround sound with both passive and active noise cancellation.

These headphones offer wired and wireless connectivity. The headphones use USB-A, USB-C, or 3.5mm audio cables for wired connectivity. For wireless connectivity, they use Bluetooth functionality or a 2.4GHz wireless dongle. Consider reading our Razer Thresher Ultimate review or our HyperX Cloud Orbit S review for a similar surround sound option.

Consensus

our Verdict

The EPOS H3PRO Hybrid wireless gaming headset provides superb audio quality for gamers and audiophiles and crystal clear microphone quality for better team chats. The headphones are incredibly versatile despite their bulkier, over-ear design. You can connect to your gaming devices wired or wirelessly, making these more flexible than most other gaming headsets. Unfortunately, they’re not as comfortable over long periods of use due to their mostly-plastic design.

The EPOS also offers active noise cancellation and extensive customization options through the included companion software. You’ll also get a long battery life with these headphones, rated at around 30 hours on a single charge. Unfortunately, they lack power-saving features, so if you forget to turn them off, your battery may drain quicker than usual.

ReasonS to Buy

  • Excellent Audio Quality
    • The EPOS H3PRO Hybrid wireless gaming headset offers clear and balanced sound quality for both music and gaming audio. One of the highlights is the headset’s ability to amplify quieter noises during games, like footsteps and enemy positional audio. This is super helpful for competitive gaming specifically.

  • Clear Microphone Quality
    • The boom microphone on this gaming headset creates crystal-clear voice audio for phone calls and in-game chat. It’s a bidirectional microphone, which picks your voice up well.

    • The EPOS’s microphone is also incredibly versatile, with the ability to fold it up or detach it entirely from the earcup. The included software even allows you to adjust microphone settings for a more customized audio experience.

  • Good Noise Cancellation
    • The EPOS H3PRO Hybrid utilizes both passive and active noise cancellation. The over-ear design passively blocks out ambient noise simply by enclosing your ears. The active noise cancellation (ANC) can be turned on and off at will. It performs incredibly well at blocking out other environmental noise.

  • Extensive Connectivity Options
    • This gaming headset offers various options for both wired and wireless connectivity. If you require a wired connection, you can use the included USB-C to USB-A cable or the included 3.5mm audio cable. You can use the 2.4GHz dongle or Bluetooth 5.2 if you require a wireless connection.

Reason to Avoid

  • Uncomfortable Over Long Periods of Use
    • The EPOS H3PRO Hybrid isn’t as comfortable over longer use periods as other gaming headsets. This can be a big downfall for hardcore gamers or streamers who are playing games throughout the day or night.

  • Disappointing Build Quality
    • The EPOS wireless gaming headset features a mostly plastic build, though the headband and earcups have both leatherette and mesh materials. All in all, the plastic build quality is disappointing and may lead to long-term durability issues.

  • No Power-Saving Options
    • These headphones lack any power-saving functionality, so if you forget to turn them off, they may run out of battery life quicker than usual.

The Corsair Void RGB Elite Wireless headphones offer similar audio quality performance to the EPOS H3PRO Hybrid headphones. In terms of design, the Corsair features a boom mic, but it isn’t detachable like the microphone on the EPOS. The Corsair includes RGB lighting, which isn’t present on the EPOs. Finally, the Corsair can only connect wirelessly, while the EPOS can use wired and wireless connections. Read our Corsair Void RGB Elite Wireless review to learn more.

You can only use the Sony Inzone H9 headset in a wireless configuration, while you can use both wired and wireless connectivity with the EPOS H3PRO. Both headsets offer active noise cancellation, but the Sony headset offers a longer battery life at 22 hours compared to the EPOS’s 19-hour battery life. Read our Sony Inzone H9 review to learn more.
