Thanks to its near-neutral sound profile, super-loud output, and suite connectivity options, the Bose S1 Pro+ is great for the outdoors and podcasts. However, this mono speaker has a narrow soundstage and doesn’t reproduce bass accurately.

Consensus

our Verdict

The Bose S1 Pro+ speaker is excellent for the outdoors. It has a decent frequency response range of 51.1 through 18,800 Hz, boasting a near-neutral – 0.26 slope. The speaker has a mobile app that allows adjusting equalizer presets. A loud output of 105.3 dB at the highest volume ranks among the top quarter of our verified tested speakers. However, there’s some sound compression of about 4.52 dB, which reduces the audio quality at the highest volume.

It has easy-to-use physical buttons for navigation and volume adjustment. However, being a mono speaker, the S1 Pro+ doesn’t support stereo and has a poor soundstage. Its battery life of 10.8 hours and charging time of 5.0 hours are sub-par. This had impressive connectivity options, including Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi, and a 3.5 mm auxiliary port. It boasts an exceptional Bluetooth range of 328.1 feet and supports multi-device pairing and decent Bluetooth latency of about 127 ms.

ReasonS to Buy

  • Outstanding sound profile
    • The Bose S1 Pro+ is excellent for music and outdoor use with a relatively well-balanced sound profile. This speaker has a frequency response range of 51.1 hertz to 18,800 hertz and a frequency response slope of -0.26, producing a relatively neutral sound.

  • Decent build quality
    • The Bose S1 Pro+ is made of solid plastic materials that feel stable.

Reason to Avoid

  • Bulky
    • Although the Bose S1 Pro+ boasts a carry handle, it weighs a whopping 14.9 pounds, so it is not the most portable.

  • Narrow soundstage
    • Being a mono speaker and featuring a directional design, the Bose S1 Pro+ has a narrow soundstage, as shown by its mediocre 4.09 dB directivity index.

  • Sub-par battery life
    • Featuring a battery life of 10.8 hours, the Bose S1 Pro+ ranks among the bottom quarter of our certified tested Bluetooth speakers.

The Bose S1 Pro+ is more portable than the JBL PartyBox 310, so it is better for on-the-go use. It’s also more affordable. However, the JBL speaker has RGB lights, and it reproduces extended low bass more accurately and gets louder so it is better for parties than the Bose speaker.
