The compact BenQ X3000I justifies its price with its easy setup, bright, true-to-life projected pictures, deep blacks, and short input lag. However, users mainly watching Netflix must connect an additional dongle for streaming.

Consensus

our Verdict

The BenQ X3000I projector, designed for gaming and movie watching, delivers optimal performance in dark settings and good visuals in moderate ambient light. Its high SDR brightness of 2875 lumens ranks near the top of our certified, tested list. It covers 99.24% of the DCI-P3 and 74.9% of the BT.2020 color spaces to ensure images look natural. The projector achieves deep blacks and vivid colors with its high 500,000:1 contrast ratio.

Setting the X3000I up is a breeze, and competitive gamers will appreciate its low 17.2ms input lag (4K and 1080p at 60Hz) that ranks number two in our list, further dropping to 4.2 ms (1080p at 240Hz). Moreover, its built-in Android streaming capabilities and portable build make it perfect for holiday excursions. However, it always requires mains power, and since there is no Netflix app, you’ll need to connect an additional streaming dongle or media box.

ReasonS to Buy

  • Good brightness levels
    • The BenQ X3000I achieves a 2875-lumen SDR brightness for gaming and watching movies in dimly lit settings, ranking among the top projectors in our certified, tested list. But even with some ambient light, the projected image looks flawless. For a higher 3500 lumens brightness, check out our BenQ TH685P review.

  • Excellent image quality
    • This projector delivers a realistic onscreen palette, covering 99.24% of the DCI-P3 and 74.9% of the BT.2020 color spaces. Both values rank in the top half of our certified, tested sheet.

    • Like the best projector for sports, it supports HDR10 and HLG, and the high 500,000:1 contrast ratio ensures uniform and perfect blacks for movie viewing in the dark. For a projector with a higher contrast ratio, read this Epson Epiqvision Ultra LS800 review.

  • Exceptionally low input lag
    • It achieves a low input lag of 17.2ms (4K and 1080p at 60Hz), ranking near the top of our verified, tested projectors. It further drops to  4.2 ms (1080p at 240Hz), making it ideal for fast-paced, competitive games.

Reason to Avoid

  • No Netflix app
    • The included Android dongle fits into a separate HDMI port in a hidden compartment and streams almost every major service, from Disney Plus and Prime video to Binge and Apple TV Plus, except Netflix.

    • You’ll have to plug a separate streaming stick into one of the two HDMI ports to access Netflix.

The premium BenQ X3000I offers superior features to the BenQ TH685P, such as a slightly higher projection offset for flexible placement, an exceptional 4K UHD resolution, and deeper blacks with a significantly higher contrast ratio. And while the X3000I’s brightness levels are excellent, the TH685P’s are a bit higher, making it more suitable for well-lit environments.

The premium BenQ X3000I and Epson Epiqvision Ultra LS800 fall under the premium projector category, but the latter is more expensive, offering higher brightness levels for daytime viewing and richer blacks with a better contrast ratio. Moreover, thanks to its exceptionally short throw, it occupies comparatively less space for setup.
