Product Snapshot

Overview

The Bushnell Wingman Mini is a budget portable Bluetooth speaker that made it to the market in 2023, promising advanced sound and location features for golfers. Like many of the most popular speakers, the Wingman Mini has an IPX7-rated submersible waterproof design, and it floats on water. It has excellent intuitive physical controls for the speakerphone, volume, and music playback. Its mobile app doesn’t have a graphic EQ or preset, though. The Wingman Mini also lacks support for voice assistants. Weighing just 0.4 pounds, it’s portable and connects via Bluetooth. It does not support Wi-Fi, though. Continue reading our review and also check out the best Bluetooth speakers on the market.

Consensus

our Verdict

The Bushnell Wingman Mini speaker is good for the outdoors, thanks to its IPX7-rated submersible waterproof design and floating construction. Music enthusiasts will be disappointed by its unbalanced deep bass-lacking soundscape, which has a slope of 1.21 dB. The 177.0 to 14,100 Hz frequency response range is also narrow. It also downmixes stereo to mono and has a narrow, closed-off soundstage. Its physical controls are easy to use but lack an EQ or presets. It has an exceptional Bluetooth range of 346 feet, Android Bluetooth latency of just 75 ms, and iOS latency of just 28 ms.

However, the speaker can only manage 8.8 hours in battery life and ranks in the bottom quarter of our verified tested Bluetooth speakers. The Wingman Mini doesn’t get very loud, maxing out at just 79.7 dB, although its dynamic range compression of just 0.39 dB means there’s negligible sound deterioration at the highest volume. Additionally, it doesn’t support voice assistants. See our list of the best Bluetooth speakers with microphones if you need a voice assistant.

ReasonS to Buy

  • Excellent build quality
    • With a decent floating IPX7-rated waterproof design, this speaker is excellent for the outdoors and golfing.

  • Remarkably portable design
    • Weighing in at just 0.4 lbs. and featuring a carrying handle, the Bushnell Wingman Mini is easy to carry around.

Reason to Avoid

  • Average sound quality
    • It has a narrow 177.0 Hz to 14.1 kHz frequency response range with a 1.21 slope, and it lacks deep bass.

    • The Wingman Mini mono has a poor soundstage, so it’s not immersive. The speaker also doesn’t get very loud, reaching the top SPL of just 79.7 dB at the maximum volume.

  • Subpar runtime
    • The Bushnell Wingman Mini runs for just 8.8 hours on a single charge, ranking in the bottom quarter of its category of our tested certified speakers.

  • Limited connectivity options
    • While it boasts Bluetooth connectivity, this speaker has no physical 3.5 mm input and doesn’t support Wi-Fi.

The Bushnell Wingman Mini doesn’t get as loud as the Bushnell Wingman View, which is better for large rooms and parties. The View also has better runtime and has a more useful app with graphic equalizer presets, unlike the Wingman. However, the Wingman Mini is a smaller and more affordable option. Our Bushnell Wingman View review discusses the bigger speaker in detail.

Featuring a much smaller frame, the Bushnell Wingman Mini is much more portable and affordable, so it’s better for travel than the much bigger Bose S1 Pro+. However, unlike the Wingman, the Bose speaker gets much louder, has a much more neutral sound profile, and has EQ presets for adjusting the sound profile. See our Bose S1 Pro+ review for details.
