WMDoll, one of China’s largest sex doll manufacturers, announced today it expects a 30% increase in sales for 2025, driven by the integration of advanced AI technology that enables more interactive and personalized user experiences.
Why it matters: The sales projection fundamentally demonstrates how AI technology is transforming traditional manufacturing, even in controversial industries, while raising questions about privacy and data security in intimate products.
Technical Innovation: The company’s new MetaBox series introduces several breakthrough features that set new standards for the industry:
- Eight distinct AI personalities
- Continuous conversation memory
- Local data storage for privacy
Market Impact: WMDoll’s strategic pricing positions the new AI-enabled products for broad market adoption:
- $100-200 premium over standard models
- Base prices between $1,500-2,000
- Additional subscription fees for AI features
The company’s MetaBox series integrates open-source large language models, including Meta’s Llama, to enable natural conversations and emotional responses. The dolls can maintain conversation context across multiple days and offer eight different personality options for users to choose from.
“All data is stored locally in the country [where the dolls are used] and we don’t have access to them,” says Liu Jiangxia, WMDoll’s founder and CEO, addressing privacy concerns as AI features become more sophisticated.
The company, which began as a mannequin manufacturer in 2010, now exports 90% of its products, with the United States accounting for half of all international sales. Despite recent tariff increases, WMDoll maintains competitive pricing through lower manufacturing costs in China.
Looking ahead, WMDoll is developing wearable devices to extend AI capabilities to non-AI products and partnering with robotics companies to implement more lifelike features such as facial expressions and body movements.
