The entry-level Darkecho Gaming Chair offers its money’s worth with fairly good ergonomics, moderate adjustability, and comfortable lumbar support, but its back panel and armrests wobble.

Overview

Released in 2021, the Darkecho Gaming Chair comes in five different colors. Like the best office chair, its reclining range is between 90° to 155°, and it features a retractable footrest and adjustable neck and massage lumbar pillows. Similar to the best gaming chairs, its maximum weight capacity is 330 lbs, and the backrest has a steel frame construction.

Consensus

our Verdict

The Darkecho Gaming Chair is an excellent entry-level gaming option. Its plush neck pillow eliminates strain, and the lumbar pillow has a massage function for complete relaxation. There is a 4.3-inch thick seat cushion, and the extendable leg extension coupled with a 155° recline lets you stretch (and nap) during breaks, but the chair’s not suitable for bottom-heavy users since the base isn’t wide enough (20 inches). Even 6-foot gamers will be too tall to align perfectly with the neck pillow.

On the upside, the chair is built with high-grade carbon fiber PU leather and a strong metal frame. However, the back panel wiggles when you sit in the chair, and while the armrests are adjustable (up, down, inwards, and outwards), they’re wobbly. Despite this, the gaming chair offers good value for money.

ReasonS to Buy

  • Good ergonomics and adjustability
    • This gaming chair boasts a headrest pillow that reduces neck strain, adjustable armrests that click 2.8 inches up, down, inward, and outward, and a 4.3” thick seat cushion.

    • There is also a leg rest extension that extends out. Combine it with the reclining back (90° to 155°), and you can relax between intense gaming sessions.

  • Comfortable lumbar support
    • The lumbar pillow helps maintain the spine’s natural curve and offers relief from lower back issues. It converts to a massage pillow with a USB function for extra relaxation. Read our GT Omega Element review for a model with memory foam lumbar support.

  • Great material quality
    • This chair’s high-grade carbon fiber PU leather material feels high-end and comfortable for long gaming and working sessions.

Reason to Avoid

  • Inaccurate weight and height capacity
    • While Darkecho lists the chair’s weight capacity as 330 lbs, gamers weighing 200 lbs or more, particularly those with a bottom-heavy build, may find the chair’s base inadequately wide.

    • Gamers over 6 feet tall may have to slouch to align properly with the neck pillow, defeating the purpose of the chair’s ergonomic design. The 20” wide seat may also not be sufficient for gamers with large builds.

  • Lacks stability
    • The chair’s back panel slightly wiggles every time you sit in it, and the armrests are somewhat wobbly.

The Darkecho Gaming Chair and the Respawn 110 Gaming Chair both have a racing seat design, but the Darkecho includes soft neck and lumbar pillows, unlike the Respawn 110. The Darkecho has arm height adjustments, a feature lacking in the Respawn 110, and it’s easier and quick to assemble, whereas the latter has trickier assembly. To learn more, read our Respawn 110 Gaming Chair review.

The Darkecho Gaming Chair and the GTPlayer GT800A Footrest both feature an extendable footrest and are made of PU leather. However, the Darkecho lets you sit crossed-leg, thanks to its outward arm adjustment feature, while the GTPlayer lacks arm adjustments. Moreover, it has a greater reclining angle (155°) than the GTPlayer GT800A Footrest’s 135° recline angle. For an in-depth breakdown, read our GTPlayer GT800A Footrest review.
