Product Snapshot
Overview
The Eero 6+, released in 2022, is a mid-tier dual-band, mesh Wi-Fi 6 system designed for seamless home internet coverage, similar to many of the best routers out today. Its design has no antennas, but it supports MU-MIMO and connects with backhaul, and the Wi-Fi 6 with 160MHz channel allows for faster, more efficient connectivity and scalable coverage through additional units.
The download speeds clock in at 444 Mbps on a 5GHz band, and the upload speed comes in at 148 Mbps on the same band. The advertised max data rate is 3,000Mbps. Offers user-friendly setup via a mobile app, advanced security features, web blocking, parental controls, and compatibility with smart home devices.
Consensus
our Verdict
The Eero 6+ is a dual-band router supporting 2.4 and 5 GHz bands. Its download speed measures in at 444 Mbps. At 30 feet, WiFi speeds are 367 Mbps. However, upload speeds aren’t good; on a 5GHz band, upload speeds are 148 Mbps, which is in the bottom 25% of the category. (The Asus ROG Rapture GT6 is much better at 618 Mbps) Unfortunately, the connection range drops out after about 105 feet, which works for smaller homes of 1,500 square feet, but extra satellites are required for larger homes.
The setup and controls are also easy to use. Users can set up the router via the app in about 5 minutes; they also can run updates, issue parental controls, and control bandwidth directly within the app.
The ports are very limited on the Eero 6+. There’s no USB port, and it only has two LAN ports, but they do allow for link aggregation.
ReasonS to Buy
Good Download Speeds
The dual-band Eero 6+ mesh network with WiFi 6 is good for a small home-use option with high download speeds of 444 Mbps, which places it in the top half of certified tested routers.
At distances, it also ranks highly for a router. At 30 feet, it measured at 367 Mbps..
Easy to Set Up and Configure
The setup is quick and painless. Users can create a network right from the app, and the process takes less than 5 minutes in total.
The app also allows users to update firmware and adjust settings with an intuitive interface. There are also many helpful features, such as anti-malware and parental controls, although some require subscription costs.
Reason to Avoid
Poor Upload Speeds
Its 5 GHz upload speeds are 147 Mbps, which places it in the bottom 25% of the category.
Limited Range of Connection
The router only reaches devices up to 105 feet away. This is enough for smaller homes, but additional satellites must be implemented to cover larger homes fully.
No USB Ports
The router has limited ability to connect external devices, as it completely lacks USB ports. IT also only comes with two LAN ports, although it does allow link aggregation.

The Eero 6 Pro uses Wi-Fi 6 with tri-band frequencies (one 2.4 GHz and two 5 GHz bands). Comparatively, the Eero 6+ employs Wi-Fi 6 but with dual-band technology, giving lower WiFi and download speeds. The Eero 6 Pro tops out at 1,008 Mbps, whereas the 6+ tested in at a max of 444 Mbps. The 6 Pro also provides more extensive coverage, ideal for larger homes or spaces with many connected devices. The Eero 6+ gives less coverage per unit than the Pro version, but still for smaller homes. You can see our Google Nest WiFi review for another great home router.

The ASUS Blue Cave AC2600 offers WiFi speeds of 242 Mbps on 2.4 GHz. The Eero 6+ is faster at 444 Mbps at 5 GHz. However, the Asus offers more inputs, including four Gigabit Ethernet ports for wired connections and a USB 3.0 port. Meanwhile, the Eero only has two auto-sensing Gigabit Ethernet ports for wired connections. The ASUS also has a slightly longer range of connection, testing in at 125 feet before dropping out, while the Eero tests in at 105 feet. At 955 Mbps, Eero 6+ has a 444 Mbps 5 GHz band download speed, which is better than the ASUS ZenWiFi AX (XT8), which is 287 Mbps. The ASUS also offers many more ports; it has 3 LAN ports, which is one more than the Eero. Likewise, it offers a USB port, whereas the Eero has none. When it comes to range, the ASUS also wins. It provides an advertised coverage of up to 5,500 square feet, enough for large homes, and the Eero has a range of 4,500 square feet. We also have a great ASUS ZenWifi XT8 review for those interested.

The Eero 6+ is the following generation to the Eero 6, both are dual band WiFi 6 mesh routers. The main difference between the two is the peak WiFi speed. The Eero 6+ has an advertised 1,000 Mbps speed, which doubles the Eero 6 at 500 Mbps. The other difference is the ability to cover space. The Eero 6 comes only with two nodes, whereas the Eero 6+ comes with three, allowing for more extensive coverage. If you want to learn more about one of the successors of the Eero 6+, check out our Eero Max 7 review.
