Product Snapshot

Overview

Released in 2021, the EPOS H6 Pro is a wired gaming headset with open and closed-back variants. It has a padded headband, breathable ear pads, and a detachable, bidirectional boom microphone you can mute by flipping it up. Three color options include black, green, and white.

Like other best gaming headset options, it’s compatible with PC, Mac, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. It has a 42mm driver, a 2-meter PC cable, and a frequency response range between 20Hz and 20kHz. The open model weighs 309g, and the closed model weighs 322g.

Consensus

our Verdict

The EPOS H6 Pro is an ideal gaming and music-listening headset due to its precise directional cues, well-rounded mids, and clear upper tones. However, the bass is slightly overbearing in the closed-back model, and the open-back variant lets in excessive ambient sounds. They are comfortable for long gaming sessions.

Since this headset is wired, you’re always tethered to the PC/console, but the upside is minimal latency issues. The detachable mic makes the headset more versatile and portable, and it filters some ambient noise like car traffic but falls short in filtering louder noise, such as the hum of an AC unit on a hot summer day.

ReasonS to Buy

  • Vibrant audio quality
    • The EPOS H6 Pro is well-suited for gaming, thanks to its accurate directional cues, detailed mids, and crisp treble.

    • The closed-back variant offers pronounced bass, while its open-back counterpart is better for enjoying a more expansive soundstage while gaming in quiet environments.

  • Extremely comfortable build
    • You can game comfortably for hours on end, given its light, padded headband, breathable, micro-mesh earcups, and lightweight build (309g).

Reason to Avoid

  • Low max volume (in the open-back model)
    • The open-back variant is suitable if you want to hear ambient sounds, but since it has a low max volume, it’s unsuitable for immersive listening in noisy surroundings.

  • Average microphone quality
    • While the microphone is great at cutting out background noise, it de-emphasizes the lower range of a gamer’s voice and doesn’t fully drown out AC sounds.

  • Tethered to a PC
    • Through plug-and-play connectivity, you’re hooked to the screen via a cord, limiting movement and flexibility.

The Logitech G Pro x 2 Lightspeed Wireless connects via Bluetooth, offering 50 hours of playtime on a single charge, whereas the EPOS H6 Pro offers wired, plug-and-play connectivity. The G Pro’s G-Hub app lets you tweak the five-band EQ settings, surround sound, and game presets, but this functionality isn’t available on the H6 Pro. However, it’s slightly heavier (345g) than the H6 pro (309g). Check out our Logitech G Pro x 2 Lightspeed Wireless review.

The EPOS H3 and EPOS H6 Pro are remarkably comfortable, wired gaming headsets. The H3 weighs slightly lighter at 285g compared to the H6 Pro’s 309g, and it also boasts a higher max volume for added immersion. However, the H6 Pro’s detachable microphone boosts portability, which is lacking in the H3. For more information, read our EPOS H3 Closed Acoustic Gaming Headset review.

You can tweak the EQ settings through the Sony INZONE H3’s Inzone Hub app, but there are no EQ presets on the EPOS H6 Pro. Conversely, the H6 Pro’s build quality is sturdy and can take some rough handling, unlike the INZONE H3’s plastic exterior.

The EPOS H6 Pro is the successor to the Sennheiser GSP 600. The H6 Pro has superior sensitivity than the GSP 600, with a sensitivity loss of -35 dB as opposed to the GSP 600’s -47 dB. Moreover, it has an exaggerated bass suitable for intense action games, but the GSP 600 has an underemphasized bass.
