Overview
The Epson EcoTank ET-8500 is a mid-range all-in-one SuperTank inkjet launched in 2021. It has scanning, printing, and copying functionality and supports automatic duplex printing. The printer weighs 18.5 lbs, has a 4.3” touchscreen display, and prints on legal, letter, half-letter, and A4-sized sheets. Similar to the top printers, it can print on glossy and matte paper types.
It has an input tray capacity of 170 pages but is missing an automatic document feeder. As seen on the best all-in-one printers, connectivity options include WiFi, WiFi Direct, Ethernet, USB-A, SD Card, Apple AirPrint, and Mopria, and there’s smart integration with the Epson Smart Panel mobile app (iOS and Android)
The Epson EcoTank ET-8500 is a sturdy, mid-range SuperTank apt for small offices, home offices, and families with high printing requirements. Its printing costs are superbly low at 0.3 cents per page, and the 5760 x 1440 DPI print resolution ensures excellent quality prints with precise details. Scan resolution is impressive at 1200 x 4800 DPI, capturing detailed, sharp-looking text.
The ET-8500’s printing speeds are adequate but average at 13.4 PPM (mono) and 7.35 PPM (color), and so is the 6.48 dE color accuracy, all of which rank in the middle of our certified, tested list. The printer is compatible with the Epson Smart Panel app (iOS and Android) and has automatic duplex printing, but the lack of an automatic document feeder (ADF) makes it a poor option if you have intensive scan requirements.
