The Hisense U7K is excellent for dark room movies and competitive gaming because of its rich blacks, excellent reflection handling, and fast response times. However, its limited viewing angles aren’t ideal for large movie gatherings.

Consensus

our Verdict

The Hisense U7K delivers an impressive cinematic and gaming experience with its high 45,311:1 contrast ratio that produces inky black levels and its quick 14.3 ms input lag. With a peak brightness of 787 nits, it ranks in the top third of our certified tested TVs, effectively eliminating glare. However, off-center viewing is limited as colors wash out at 23°

The TV’s 11.3 ms response time, 120 Hz refresh rate, and VRR compatibility excel in handling fast motion content, but bright objects slightly bloom. Colors stand out, thanks to the wide color gamut (96.31% of the DCI-P3), and the TV maintains details while upscaling. Lastly, its remote includes a built-in mic for convenient hands-free control, and the clean Google TV OS is easy to navigate.

ReasonS to Buy

  • Outstanding picture quality in the dark
    • The Hisense U7K is well-suited for nighttime movie viewing as its high 45,311:1 contrast ratio delivers deep blacks.

    • Moreover, its wide color gamut, covering 96.31% of the DCI-P3 color space, ranks in the top third of our certified, tested TVs, displaying real-life imagery for a more immersive viewing experience.

  • High peak brightness
    • Its high 787 nits tested peak brightness ranks midway in our certified, tested TVs and is suitable for viewing in well-lit environments as its semi-gloss finish effectively eliminates reflections.

  • Fast response time and low input lag
    • The 11.3 ms response time ensures smooth and quick transitions in action-packed films and games.

    • While the tested 14.3ms (1080p at 60Hz) input lag is slightly high (ranking in the mid-third of our certified, tested list), you can still play casual games. However, 4K at 120Hz gaming ensures a lower 5.4ms, perfect for fast-paced competitive games.

  • 120 Hz refresh rate
    • At 120 Hz, the refresh rate is highly responsive, minimizing motion blur in gaming.

    • The TV also ensures reduced screen tearing while gaming with its FreeSync and G-SYNC compatibility.

Reason to Avoid

  • Subpar off-center viewing
    • This TV is poor for a wide seat arrangement since it exhibits narrow viewing angles, with colors washing out at just 23°.

  • Average blooming
    • Blooming is noticeable around bright highlights during dim scenes, which could prove distracting.

The Hisense U7K is a mid-range 4K TV boasting significantly higher peak HDR brightness (787 nits) than the entry-level Hisense H6570G’s mere 208 nits brightness. Both TVs have a semi-gloss screen finish, but the U7K distinctly outperforms the H6570G in handling reflections in bright rooms. For more information, read our Hisense H6570G review.

The Hisense U7K has a lower 11.3ms response time for reduced motion blur in fast-paced action scenes compared to the Samsung Q6FN/Q6/Q6F QLED’s 12.9ms response time. It also incorporates HDMI 2.1 for enhanced resolution and refresh rates for console gamers, but the Q6FN does not. Moreover, the U7K supports Freesync and G-SYNC for reduced screen tearing, while the Q6FN only supports Freesync and lacks G-SYNC compatibility. Read this Samsung Q6FN/Q6/Q6F QLED review for an in-depth model breakdown.

With a QD-OLED panel, the Sony A95L OLED TV has a superior inf:1 contrast ratio that ensures deep blacks during nighttime viewing. In contrast, the Hisense U7K has a lower 45,311:1 (although above average) contrast ratio. Moreover, it boasts an expansive color gamut with a 99.96% coverage of the DCI P3 xy, offering life-like visuals, but the U7K isn’t too far behind, with 96.31% coverage.
