Product Snapshot
Overview
Announced in 2023, the Hisense U8K TV is a mid-tier display with a 4K screen resolution for sharp picture quality and a 144Hz refresh rate that gamers will highly appreciate. Like many top-tier TVs, the U8K also has fantastic reflection handling courtesy of its semi-gloss screen finish, and with a response time of 13.3ms, it can easily maintain a very low re-occurrence of overshoot errors.
The TV’s 1,008 local dimming zones and 7,551:1 contrast ratio deliver deep blacks, making them clear and inky even when watching in a brightly lit environment. However, the Hisense A65K has a slightly better 8,379:1 contrast ratio – check it out in our Hisense A65K TV review.
The U8K TV also has a 120Hz native refresh rate and supports Variable Refresh Rate technology to keep screen judder to a minimum during fast-action gaming or movie scenes.
The U8K TV offers excellent picture quality courtesy of a wide color gamut and its 94.94% coverage of the DCI P3 color space.
It doesn’t require much color calibration to achieve a sharp, consistent color output, as its 94.94% coverage places it in the top 20% of our list of certified tested TVs.
Outstanding brightness and good contrast ratio
The U8K stays bright enough for viewing even in a well-lit setting thanks to a 1500-nit peak brightness rating, which places it in the top quarter of TVs in its category.
The TV also delivers deep, inky blacks courtesy of a 7,577:1 contrast ratio, which is well above average compared to other alternatives in its category.
Quick response time
There are very few occurrences of motion blur on the Hisense U8K thanks to a 13.3ms response time, which sits right in the middle of our tested TVs.
Great reflection handling
Content on the U8K TV remains visible even when viewed in a well-lit setting due to its glossy screen finish.
Reason to Avoid
Poor viewing angles
Images on the U8K TV appear faded and washed out when viewed from the side, as viewers will experience significant brightness loss at 35°.
This makes it unsuitable for large crowd viewing.

The Hisense U8K TV has a better 7,577:1 native contrast ratio compared to the Hisense U8H, which has a 4,020:1 native contrast ratio, but on the other hand, the U8H has a faster 7.6ms response time compared to the U8K, which is rated at 13.3ms. While they both have support for Variable Refresh Rate technology, the U8K has a higher dimming zone count of 1,008 compared to the U8H, which has 504 zones. The U8K and the U8H are VA displays, but if you’d want to consider a WOLED display, our LG G3 OLED TV review might be worth a look.

The Hisense U8K TV has a peak brightness rating of 1500 nits, making it brighter than the Hisense H9F, which has a peak brightness rating of 1125 nits. Also worth mentioning is that the U8K has slightly better reflection handling courtesy of its semi-gloss screen finish compared to the H9F, which has a glossy finish. However, the H9F is capable of better motion handling due to its 9.3ms response time, which is faster than the U8K’s 13.3ms. If you’re interested, we’ve covered the H9F in our Hisense H9F review, but for an IPS display, consider our Hisense A6G review.

The TCL display also has a slightly faster 10.8ms response time compared to the Hisense TV, rated at 13.3ms.
