Lenovo has unveiled the ThinkBook Gen 5 Hybrid, an innovative device that seamlessly combines Android and Windows 11 in a single package. This laptop-tablet combo aims to provide users with the best of both worlds without the compromises typically associated with dual-OS devices.
The ThinkBook Gen 5 Hybrid takes a unique approach to the concept of a hybrid device. Instead of attempting to run both operating systems on the same hardware, Lenovo has split the device into two distinct parts: an Android tablet and a Windows laptop base.
As reported by Neowin, the Android tablet portion features a stunning 14-inch 2.8K OLED touchscreen with pen support, powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor, 12GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage. It also includes a 38Wh battery to keep you going on the go.
Liliputing points out that when you need the full functionality of a laptop, simply dock the tablet into the Windows base. The base is equipped with an Intel Core Ultra 7 155H processor, 32GB of RAM, 1TB of storage, and a 75Wh battery. The tablet’s front-facing camera even becomes the notebook’s webcam when docked.
Lenovo currently has it available for pre-order in China at 15,999 CNY (approximately $2,250), the ThinkBook Gen 5 Hybrid is expected to retail for $2,000 and up when it launches in the United States. This pricing positions it as a premium device for users who demand the flexibility of a tablet and the power of a laptop in one package.
