The LG S80QY is extremely versatile in terms of wireless connectivity. Its subwoofer also churns out a great-sounding bass response, and since it is also vocally accurate, dialogue-focused content sounds very clear.

Product Snapshot
Overview
The LG S80QY is a mid-range soundbar and subwoofer unit that was first released in 2022. The speaker has a 3.1.3 channel setup, and its subwoofer delivers a good enough bass for owners who enjoy getting immersed in the effects during action-heavy movie scenes.
Its soundstage is not the best since sound seems like its coming only from a general area, but it also comes with a room correction feature to adjust the bar’s sound based on a room’s size, and this is a feature that is quite common among the best speakers in the industry.
The S80QY also offers impressive wireless connectivity, as owners will be able to stream their favorite content through Bluetooth, WiFi, Apple AirPlay, Chromecast, or even Spotify Connect. These are the kind of options you can expect from the best soundbars around.
Consensus
our Verdict
While the LG S80QY may have a neutral sound profile out-of-the-box, experts like that it comes with a capable subwoofer that produces a thunderous rumble when watching movies for exciting effects, and that it also has two dialogue-focussed center channels that enhance the vocals for problem-free audiobook, podcast or TV watching.
Still, its soundstage isn’t wide enough for owners to perceive exactly where the object sounds are coming from. Rtings was also particularly impressed with its many wireless playback options and felt that this would make music streaming incredibly convenient.
They also praised its easy-to-use LG Sound Bar app, calling it intuitive and easy to pair with devices that support Alexa or Google Assistant.
The S80QY is also loud enough to fill up an average living room with sound, and it can also support a wide range of audio formats.
Tech Radar also liked its touch-sensitive controls and that its subwoofer connected to the soundbar immediately after it was plugged into a power source.
Unfortunately, testers didn’t like the lack of a graphic EQ.

At 90.3 dB on max volume, the LG S80QY gets quite loud, but not as loud as the Samsung HW-Q800A, which peaks at 95.1 dB. In contrast, the S80QY has a room correction feature that the HW-Q800A does not, but the HW-Q800A has a graphic equalizer that is missing on the S80QY. Lastly, the HW-Q800A has built-in Amazon Alexa support, which you will not find on the S80QY.
