Overview
The LG S90QY is a premium 5.1.3 channel speaker system that was launched in 2022. It supports Dolby Atmos content for immersive movie-watching, and its soundstage is wide enough for users to enjoy the experience of sound coming from multiple directions.
Its subwoofer can deliver a strong, thumpy bass output, but unlike most top-ranking speakers, it doesn’t ship with any satellite speakers.
It also delivers clear vocals thanks to its discrete center channel, and with extra features such as room correction, it can automatically configure its output based on the room size it is in.
Its wireless connectivity options are on par with some of the best soundbars on the market since users can stream music through Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Apple AirPlay, or Chromecast.
They’ll also be able to make many physical connections since the soundbar’s port selection includes three HDMI ports and one Optical Audio In port.
The LG S90QY is a top-shelf 5.1.3 channel soundbar with rich bass for a thumpy, low-end response and accurate audio production with room correction on.
Vocals are clear and distinct, and this, plus Dolby Atmos Support, makes for a wide, immersive sound. Unfortunately, its missing graphic Equalizer severely limits sound customization.
Still, the soundbar offers a great stereo soundstage and has a low-tested 85ms ARC and Optical latency and a 75ms Full HDMI latency.
Ports include an Optical Audio in, a Full HDMI port, and a USB port. Wireless connectivity is also superb, with support for Bluetooth, WiFi, Apple AirPlay, and Spotify.
However, its surround sound performance is poor since it lacks discrete satellites. Overall, the S90QY is a soundbar that should satisfy even the pickiest listener.

The LG S90QY ships with a HDMI cable, but not Digital Optical, while the LG SP9YA includes the Digital Optical, but misses out on the HDMI. Also worth noting is that the S90QY has one extra channel than the SP9YA, though the difference in sound output because of this is difficult to notice.

The LG S90QY is more capable of better surround sound performance than the LG S80QY since the S90QY is a 5.1.3 system, and the S80QY is a 3.1.3 channel speaker. The S90QY also allows owners to adjust its surround sound level, a feature that the LG S80QY does not possess.
