Those who don’t mind relying solely on Bluetooth connectivity for audio streaming will find the HW-Q65T sufficient for their audio needs, given its mid-range pricing. It doesn’t deliver the best surround sound experience, but it gets loud, and its sound output is adjustable.

Product Snapshot

Overview

The Samsung HW-Q65T is a mid-tier soundbar and satellite speaker setup that was first announced in 2022.

The speaker system offers graphical EQ and presets for easy sound customization and also has a subwoofer that delivers just enough low bass to keep most owners satisfied but misses out on the deep rumble that movie fans would love.

It also has a satisfactory soundstage, which gives users a general idea of where sound is coming from.

Its missing Dolby Atmos support and mid-level subwoofer performance are some of the reasons it doesn’t appear in our list of the best speakers or even the best soundbars, but it does have a an Optical Audio In and three HDMI ports.

Regarding wireless connectivity, the HW-Q65T only works with Bluetooth-capable devices, but if you’d like an alternative that works with Wi-Fi devices as well, our Samsung HW-Q70T review might be worth looking into.

Consensus

our Verdict

The Samsung HW-Q65T is a 5.1-channel soundbar that has great surround sound capability thanks to satellites and up-firing speakers. It produces a large room-filling sound that is also neutral, with a bit of extra bass output.

Unfortunately, its wireless connectivity is limited to Bluetooth, lacking Wi-Fi and Apple AirPlay. There’s also no Atmos support for immersive surround sound, but its port selection includes one Optical Audio in, one Full HDMI in, and one USB port.

Latency performance (tested at 53ms ARC and 68ms Optical) is also above board for in-sync video playback, and its soundstage is wider than the bar for localized sound.

Despite the lack of voice assistant support, the Q65T remains a great pick for all-around home entertainment, only stifled by its limited wireless connectivity options.

ReasonS to Buy

  • Impressive build quality
  • Great sound quality, with accurately reproduced vocals
  • Sound is adjustable through a graphic EQ and presets
  • Has a loud max volume
  • Low latency for in-sync playback

Reason to Avoid

  • Low bass range output is not impressive
  • Wireless connectivity options are limited to Bluetooth
  • No Dolby Atmos support
  • Surround sound performance is below par
  • No voice assistant support

The Samsung HW-Q65T ships with two satellite speakers and a subwoofer, while the Sonos Arc only exists as a soundbar. That said, the Sonos Arc supports Dolby Atmos and Dolby Digital content, which the Samsung HW-Q65T cannot render, but the Samsung soundbar has a display while the Sonos Arc does not.
