Consensus

our Verdict

Top reviewers love the impressive surround and Dolby Atmos performance of the Samsung HW-Q910B, recommending the soundbar for movies, music, and TV shows.

Experts from RTINGS were delighted by this system’s discrete satellite speakers and Dolby Atmos performance, saying that it allows users to pinpoint the direction of specific in-movie sounds.

Editors from Digital Trends hailed its remarkably neutral sound profile and dedicated that produces deep bass that will please EDM and hip-hop music enthusiasts. With a high maximum SPL, this system gets really loud.

However, the latency over the ARC and optical ports is a bit high, so there might be some noticeable delays between the audio and video feeds during the TV dialogue scenes.

This speaker has a rich range of wired and wireless connectivity options and boasts Alexa and a mobile app for simple customization.

However, if you need a more affordable 5.1.2 soundbar, see our Samsung HW-Q850T review and check out our Samsung HW-Q930B review if you need a more immersive 9.1.4 system.

ReasonS to Buy

  • Excellent sound quality
    • This soundbar is excellent for music, movies, and TV shows because its balanced sound, especially in the mid-range, ensures clear dialogues and vocals. The relatively wide soundstage improves immersion with accurate sound placement.

  • Useful connectivity options and moderate latency
    • The inputs include 1 x Optical audio, 1 x HDMI eARC, and 1 x Full HDMI In, and you can connect it wirelessly over WiFi and Bluetooth, like its subwoofer. Latency over Full HDMI In (42 ms) ranks moderately compared to our other tested soundbars; there is no audio lag. Latency over eARC is 91 ms, which is among the highest we’ve seen, with no noticeable audio delay.

  • Durable design with handy physical inputs
    • The soundbar and satellites have a sturdy plastic build with metal grilles protecting the drivers, while the subwoofer has a wooden build. Although offering limited control, there are tactile buttons on the soundbar to manage the volume, microphone muting, and input selection, and a tiny display.

  • Simple user interface
    • The remote is simple to use and lets you power on and off the bar, adjust volume, choose inputs, and adjust EQ modes. And you can tweak the audio with the 7-band EQ and graphic presets.

  • Smart integration on iOS and Android
    • The soundbar is compatible with the Samsung SmartThings app (iOS and Android), so you can control it fully even without the remote. And built-in Alexa lets you control the system with vocal commands.

Reason to Avoid

  • Average Atmos performance
    • Although the soundbar’s up-firing channels make it feel like the audio has height, it is not as convincing as having ceiling speakers.

  • Slightly high latency over eARC and Optical
    • Tested latency over eARC (91 ms) and Optical (97 ms) is moderately high and ranks among the highest we’ve seen.

  • Non-universal remote and limited voice assistants
    • Since the remote isn’t universal, you can’t control multiple devices with it. The soundbar also doesn’t support Google Assistant or Apple Siri.
