The TT-SK023 struggles to meet the standards of a casual listener due to its poor audio quality despite its entry-level price. Overall, the TT-SK023’s best selling point is its compact size and modern design, but it’s not worth the price.

Product Snapshot
Overview
The TaoTronics TT-SK023 is a 2020 model 2.0-channel entry-level soundbar that offers room-filling audio with loud volumes. Just like the highest-rated speakers, this model can get very loud without causing audio distortion or suffering from compression artifacts.
But, unlike the most popular soundbars, it does not come with any dedicated subwoofer unit for extended low bass.
It also does not feature any built-in microphone to support voice assistants natively, and it doesn’t have any Dolby or DTS audio codec support, including lossless Dolby Atmos or DTS: X, which limits its soundstage to stereo.
In terms of wireless modes, this soundbar only features Bluetooth but lacks Wi-Fi, Chromecast, or Apple AirPlay. And when it comes to wired connectivity, this soundbar only features an optical and a 3.5 mm auxiliary audio jack.
Consensus
our Verdict
Even though its wireless connectivity options are limited to only Bluetooth, the well-made TT-SK023 soundbar reliably connects to other devices through its Optical port, and while it gets quite loud, it misses out on clarity in its vocals and instrumentals and doesn’t have a strong bass range due to its lack of a sub.
Its surround sound performance also isn’t the best because of its small soundstage, but it does come with a remote and has set Eq presets for users to choose from.
In terms of its port selection, the soundbar is also quite limited, as it has an Optical Audio in and an Analog Audio In 3.5mm. As far as its design goes, the soundbar looks quite modern, with controls elegantly placed along its top right edge.

Thanks to its more comprehensive 2.1-channel speaker setup, the TaoTronics TT-SK026 has a slightly wider stereo soundstage than the 2.0-channel TaoTronics TT-SK023 soundbar. The TT-SK026 soundbar can also get much louder than the TT-SK023, and it doesn’t suffer from as much compression artifacts or audio distortion at the max volume. The SK026 also has a text display-based UI that the SK023 lacks. Learn more about the TT-SK026 soundbar in our TaoTronics TT-SK026 review.

Despite the AmazonBasics 2.1 Channel Bluetooth Soundbar’s wider stereo output, it performs the exact same as the TaoTronics TT-SK023 in most aspects. However, the AmazonBasics soundbar does support the Dolby Digital audio codec over its optical audio input, which the TaoTronics model lacks. Although the AmazonBasics setup does get slightly louder than the TT-SK023, it also suffers from more compression and distortions at those loud volumes.

Both the TaoTronics TT-SK023 and the BOMAKER Odine II have a similarly specced 2.0 channel speaker layout that performs basically the same in almost all regards. However, the Odine II does come with an HDMI ARC (Audio Return Channel) port that the TaoTronics soundbar lacks. The Odine II can also get much louder than the TaoTronics model and suffers from fewer artifacts at the max volume. But the SK023 has a better build quality.
