Product Snapshot

Overview

Introduced as a budget-friendly option in 2021, Toshiba’s V35 Series offers two sizes: the 32-inch 720p model and the 43-inch 1080p variant. Like many of the Best TVs on the market today, both feature LED panels.

They also come with a 60Hz refresh rate and audio enhancements like DTS Virtual:X and Dolby Audio. With Fire TV functionality and Alexa support, they cater to a wide range of viewing preferences.

Though not the newest or the most advanced TVs, the V35 series are some of the most affordable smart TVs on the market. Keep reading to learn more, or browse our list of the best smart TVs for other options.

Consensus

our Verdict

The V35 Series has average brightness; the larger 50-inch model only puts out 363 nits, but the viewing angles are good, retaining color past 50 degrees.

The TV has a wide color gamut, but it lacks HDR10+. Input options are adequate, with 3 HDMI ports, a VCA port, and 1 USB port, but Ethernet is lacking. Contrast, at 1007:1, means acceptable black levels, but reflections impede viewing in well-lit environments.
.

The tested 60Hz refresh rate is not ideal for fast-paced action. Response time is average, around 38ms. Without local dimming, blooming is definitely an issue, and the lack of advanced downscaling affects image quality when displaying 4K content.

The Fire TV remote control and OS provide intuitive navigation, but some users find the home screen cluttered.

The Toshiba V35 series is a budget-minded HD smart TV with a built-in Amazon Fire TV interface. At the same time, the more-expensive Toshiba M550 TV has more advanced features, 4k resolution instead of 768p or 1080p, a native 120Hz refresh rate, and better contrast. While both models provide excellent value, the M550 might be better for gamers seeking more performance. See our Toshiba M550 TV review for more information, or see our Toshiba Amazon Fire TV 2018 review for another budget option.

The Vizio M6 is another value smart TV option. It costs slightly more but offers more advanced features than the Toshiba V35 series. The M6 has a 120Hz refresh rate, making it more effective for viewing fast movement. It also supports variable refresh rates, giving it an edge for gamers. The Vizio also has a higher native contrast ratio. See our Vizio M6 Series TV review to learn more. For another option, see our Sony X85K TV review.

The Toshiba V35 series replaces the older Toshiba Fire TV Edition in most markets but isn’t a direct successor. It has a different design but shares some specs with the older Toshiba Fire TV models. Built-in Amazon Fire TV support with Alexa is carried over, as is the HD resolution, VESA-compatible mounting hardware, and 3 HDMI ports.
